Fun fact: This short-story about a man who builds a boat in his backyard, much to the amusement and confusion of neighbours, friends and family, has been made into a radio-play for the series Mindwebs, which ran on Wisconsin public radio. You can find it and dozens of other episodes (including more PKD) on the internet archive.
